The clock strikes 12 bells, and the gargoyles sitting on the gateposts in front of the park next door slowly come to life. They dance, they shimmy, they spin in the pale moonlight, as gracefully as gargoyles can (which probably isn’t that graceful, really).
They dance THE GARGOYLE SHUFFLE!
.
An award-winning children’s author as well as a musician, Philippa Dowding recorded this piece of music with Allister Thompson/The Gateless Gate, to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the publication of her first book, "The Gargoyle in My Yard" (April, 2009), a book which Allister edited. They have since edited 12 children's books together, and this is their third musical collaboration.
Philippa composed this piece in 2014, and has played "The Gargoyle Shuffle" live to audiences across Canada ever since. She is so happy to have it finally recorded for posterity. Allister gets to show his rarely-exposed bluesy side, along with his best gargoyle voice.
When the clock strikes midnight … somewhere, maybe closer than you think, a gargoyle waits.
